Luis Vellón Roca was born in 1993 in Castelló de la Plana (Valencian Country). He is bilingual in Valencian/Catalan and Spanish, and he is also fluent in English and French.
Already at Primary School he knew that he wanted to become a journalist. When he was only 14 years old he moved to Dublin for an exchange programme, while during his Bachelor’s degree he spent a year as an Erasmus student at the Université Lumière in Lyon.
His Master’s degree in International Political Journalism from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona allowed him to combine his academic background in journalism and communications with his keen interest on international relations and politics.
After an initial career experience as an intern at a local newspaper and at an editorial house in Barcelona, he worked as a communications assistant for a European organization in the field of renewable energy in Brussels and was awarded with the Robert Schuman traineeship at the European Parliament’s Press Unit.
In the past he has also volunteered for different NGOs working with migrants in Northern Greece as well as in Calais.
Before joining EFA, Luis worked as an EU affairs reporter for a Spanish news agency, covering, among others, EU leaders’ summits and the European Parliament plenary sessions.
