30.11.09 Building bridges to enable Corsicans to choose their own future (FR only)
/ Bâtir des ponts pour que les Corses puissent choissir eux-même leurs destin
Assemblée Générale de PNC à Bastia.
Un bon millier de personnes présent à l'AG du PNC ce dimanche 29 novembre à la Chabrière à Bastia, en présence d'un plateau international de grande qualité avec des personnalités comme Nelly Maes, Présidente de l'Alliance Libre Européenne (qui regroupe 44 partis politiques en Europe), de la démarche Europe Écologie ou encore de la Fédération Régions & Peuples Solidaires.
Sont intervenus également à la tribune Norbert Laredo, responsable d'I Verdi Corsi et Pascal Vivarelli de Via Prugressista. Pour débloquer la situation au sein du courant modéré, Jean
Christophe Angelini a proposé « un ticket » à Gilles Simeoni, pour appréhender le choix de la tête de liste non pas l'un plutôt que l'autre mais « l'un avec l'autre ».

27.11.09 Strasbourg round-up: news bulletin from the European Free Alliance Group in the European Parliament.
This week in Strasbourg: 23 - 26 November.
EFA MEPs have been in Strasbourg this week for a plenary session of the European Parliament. Subjects on the agenda included the future accession to the EU of Croatia and Turkey, preparations for the Copenhagen climate conference, better compensation for airline passengers and preparations for the next EU Summit in December.
- EFA MEPs show solidarity with the Palestinian People.
- Local voices must be heard in Copenhagen.
- Language Rights and Lisbon.
- Brazil beef imports.

26.11.09 The Assembly of European Regions asks more power for the Regions (FR only) / L'Assemblée des Régions d'Europe demande plus de pouvoirs pour les Régions
L'ARE publie une enquête qui couvre 66 régions réparties dans 24 pays de la grande Europe, et qui milite pour un élargissement du champ de compétences des régions, accompagné d’incitations financières adaptées, qui leur permettrait de répondre aux défis énergétiques globaux en tirant le meilleur parti de leurs potentiels énergétiques locaux.

26.11.09 New EU President must address 'Europe's missing link'
Wales MEP and President of the EFA Parliamentary Group Jill Evans (Plaid Cymru) has called on the newly appointed President of the European Council to recognise the role nations like Wales, Scotland, Catalonia, Corsica and Flanders have to play in the European Union.
The MEP was speaking in a debate at the European Parliament in Strasbourg to plan for the forthcoming European Summit on 10th December. The Plaid Cymru MEP said that many people across Europe feel more distant than ever from the European Union and blamed the 'missing link' that exists between the EU and the people's of Europe.

Sarkozy attaque de nouveau la diversité linguistique et culturelle
Le débat sur l’identité nationale ou le retour de l’Abbé Grégoire Le 02 Novembre dernier, le Ministre de l’immigration et de l’identité nationale, M. Besson, lançait à la demande du Chef de l’Etat M. Sarkozy ,un débat sur l’identité nationale avec pour objectif :
- « de favoriser la construction d’une vision mieux partagée de ce qu’est l’identité nationale aujourd’hui »
- « de faire émerger des actions permettant de conforter l’identité nationale et de réaffirmer les valeurs républicaines et la fierté d’être français ».

21.11.09EFA present at the congress of Süd Tiroler Freiheit.
STF counted with the participation of Sybren Posthumus in its annual congress
This year Süd Tiroler Freiheit (STF) held its annual party congress in St. Michel/Eppan.
EFA Bureau member, Sybren Posthumus, participated in the events organised for the occassion by the party.
The party congress was followed by a guided visit to several towns in Süd Tirol, where fascist relics are still present.

21.11.09 Mebyon Kernow Annual Conference
Cornish identity on the rise
EFA congratulates Mebyon Kernow with the recent success. The party had a better election result then Labour in the last European elections and in the annual Congress of today they could also announce that the Cornwall Council cabinet voted to make road signs throughout Cornwall bilingual.

EFA is seeking to hire a trainee for its office in Brussels.

17.11.09 MEP DEMANDS WELSH VOTE ON UK COMMISSIONER
While the bargaining goes on over who will become the new unelected President of the European Council, European governments are also putting forward their nominees for members of the new 27 strong European Commission.
Before being approved by the European Parliament, each one who has been proposed has to appear before the relevant parliamentary committee to be questioned as to their suitability for the job. The name of the new UK Commissioner will be put forward by Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

16.11.09 Victory for democracy in independent Kosovo's first local elections. Commenting on yesterday's local elections in Kosovo - the first since its independence - Austrian Green MEP and EP rapporteur for Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek commented:
"Kosovo has passed an important test of its democratic credentials by holding free and fair elections that meet international standards. I am greatly encouraged by the overall level of participation by the Serb minority, which paves the way to securing autonomy at the level of their municipalities, in line with the Ahtisaari plan”.

14.11.09 R.I.P PDB, viva ProDG
Death of a party in the German Community in Belgium
The Party PDB, “Partei der Deutschsprachiger Belgien”, at the age of (nearly) 38 has ended all activities and lived its last day of existence. PDB was founded on 27 December 1971 in Sankt Vith in a bar. Outside the state security police tried to identify the participants in the meeting. The party was tired of the oligarchy in the political field by “strangers” and colonisation of the christian social party CSP.

4.11.09 MEP recognised for work on EU seal trade ban.
Brepoels wins MEP of the year award
Flemish MEP Frieda Brepoels from the N-VA (Nieuw Vlaams Alliantie) who is also Vice President of the EFA Group in the European Parliament has won the prestigious 'MEP of the Year' award in the Trade category.
The annual awards are organised by the Parliament Magazine, with nominations coming from an expert panel and the final decision put to a vote of fellow MEPs. Brepoels was presented with the award at a ceremony in Brussels last night and received particular recognition for her work in promoting a European ban on the trade in seal products.

1.11.09 SSW will become full member of the EFA party
SSW will request full membership in EFA in the next General Assembly
That was decided today with a large majority in Husum in the SSW Party day.
EFA is a federation of 40 Regional and Minority parties in 18 Members States of the European Union. They work independently on the European level.
