The next Summer University RPS- EFA is coming. The event will take place the coming 27 -31 August in Mulhouse, Alsace. Three days of debates around different issues like: the question of “national minorities” in France, Federalism, the situation 20 years after Chernobyl, the use of regional languages at the European Union and youth and autonomism in Europe among others. Regions and stateless nations are flexible structures while centralist states are not adequate to solve citizens' problems. Last Sunday Catalan citizens voted in favour of their new Statute of Autonomy. 21.06.06 Jill Evans Welcomes U-Turn on Welsh Language in Europe. Jill Evans MEP is celebrating the success of Plaid Cymru's campaign for Welsh to be given official recognition in the EU.
On Thursday the Assembly's European Affairs Committee will consider a proposal for limited use of Welsh in EU institutions. Plaid Cymru has been campaigning to secure status for the Welsh language on an EU level for two years.» READ MORE EN WELSH

16.06.06. SCOTTISH MEP TO LEARN LESSONS FROM NORWAY AND ICELAND Scottish National Party MEP Alyn Smith is to take the lead in a European delegation to Norway and Iceland. Mr Smith, who is a member of the European Parliament delegation to the two countries will be visiting both next week and will have a series of high level meetings with members of the Norwegian and Icelandic parliaments as well as a lunch with the Icelandic foreign minister.» READ MORE EN
As you may be aware, the next newsletter of the EFAy was due out next month, but members of the Bureau thought that it would be a good idea to release a ‘Special Edition’ issue, focusing solely on the General Assembly.
