Eric Defoort. A life full of self-determination

The former EFA President and N-VA co-founder dies at age 73, leaving an important legacy behind

The European Free Alliance family mourns the loss of Eric Defoort at the age of 73. He was born in Ypres in 1943 and was from a young age a dedicated advocate of the Flemish people's right to self-determination. He was vice president of Volksunie and co-founder of EFA member N-VA.

During the 2010 EFA General Assembly in Venice he was elected EFA president, a position he held for 4 years. His successor, current EFA President Francois Alfonsi in his condolences' message highlighted the commitment of Eric Defoort to solidarity with other stateless European nations, his never-ending enthusiasm and faith to the ideas and goals of EFA for #AnotherEurope of Peoples.
