04.02.10 Conference on Language Diversity – A Challenge for Europe : 4th march 2010 (04/02/2010)

EFA has always defended the basic right of people to live, work and be politically active in their mother tongue. To follow up and reflect on the evolutions in this field, it is important to keep in touch with expertise gained through academic studies and political experience.

Therefore, on the 4th march 2010, The European Free Alliance parliamentary group in the EP will organize a conference on different European languages who claim their recognition or officiality.

A group of experts in the sociolinguistics field and Members of the European Parliament will exchange views on three different topics:

  • Languages without a state : multilingualism policy in the European Institutions
  • Minority languages : threatened languages that need to be protected before they disappear
  • Protecting linguistic diversity against oppressions
