Spirit becomes “VLAAMS PROGRESSIEVEN” Flemish Progressives

On the congress of 19 April 2008 spirit got a new start. The declaration of principles of the party was sharpened, working groups focused on the future and existence of the party produced their results. Eight topics with detailed proposals which translate our ideology to the practice were presented and as the icing to the cake was the new party name VlaamsProgressieven .


Short declaration of principles

Every human being has the right to freedom and to self-development. This right also gives everyone the duty to responsibility for itself and the whole community. We want an open, divers and intercultural society, where commitment is appreciated, prosperity shared, well-being promoted and nature managed in a sustainable way.

This left-liberal vision assumes a democratic government which guarantees social justice by creating equal chances on personal development and participation for everyone.

For us the Flemish community must as pluralist solidarity ring have the autonomy to fulfill that role in full cooperation and solidarity with other communities in a confederal Belgium, within Europe and the world.
